Microsoft Comfort Keyboard 1027

I have a friend who has a Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard and mouse combination 1027.

I am trying to locate a manual (if one exists) the main purpose is to switch on or off (I don't know which), a toggle which controls the Function Keys, the default (or as the Keyboard is set) is that you cannot access the Function Keys until this key is pressed. Very annoying on booting the system.

I have located the site http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/d/wireless-comfort-keyboard, it does under the heading of manuals suggest a product guide, this is a document in many languages and does not assist. Also on this site is different software for USB and PS/2, the wireless sender unit has two cables one USB the Other PS/2 my mate connects both, I reckon only one should be used. The is also a difference in the software,

IntelliType 8.2 32-bit for Windows XP (exe) for USB

IntelliType Pro 7.1 32-bit for Windows XP (exe) for PS/2

The version numbers are different also the 7.1 for PS/2 has the word PRO in its title.

I have not used any IntelliType software for many years, if my memory is correct I think the manual/on screen help is within the software.

To my mind at the moment the combination is using generic XP drivers.

What is considered the best to use USB or PS/2?

    Problem solved.

I connected via the USB cable only.

Downloaded and installed USB Driver IntelliType from

    http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/d/wireless-comfort-keyboard

Downloaded and installed USB driver IntelliPoint from

    http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/d/intellimouse

The mouse and keyboard were automatically detected correctly. And have many self explanatory options.

    Thanks to all

I do not have access to the components to retrieve the correct model numbers, nor are the components connected to a system to which I have access, I am 76 my mate does not understand computers so contacting Microsoft support is very difficult.

I do not know how to obtain the advice, any suggestions?
