How do I prevent Photoshop from taking over my Image files??

I recently found that the Photoshop App has now taken all my picture files that I used to open with Microsoft Photo Editor and I would like for that NOT TO HAPPEN.  Any help, please??

    Hi Peter,

    Procedure for making Microsoft Photo Editor as default

    1. Right-Click a picture.
    2. Select 'Open With'
    3. Select 'Choose default program...'
    4. Select the Microsoft Photo Editor application from the list.
    5. Click the check box stating that 'Use this application for all .jpg files'
    6. You’re done.
    7. Now open any image file, it will be opened in Microsoft Photo Editor.
