How does Services.MSC influence Msconfig.exe?

..a quick example for understanding my question better :p

Why when in Service.msc I've disabled Acrobat Update Service (for example), the service in Msconfig.exe still is checked in Services menu?

It is marked as stopped though.

Does unchecking service process in Msconfig.exe = unchecking in Services.MSC?

Restart has been done of course.

Thank You, please help!

The result would be the same.  However best practice would be to use the Services to permanently disable services, change startup type, or start services, and to use MsConfig just for troubleshooting.

To see what happens in real life is to experiment (if you want to) with MsConfig and Services, including all the necessary reboots etc.

Services can be affected via the Registry too.  There are often multiple ways of doing things in Windows to obtain the same result.

Yes, but why do they still remain checked if once they are already stopped...I think it's just a software developing negligence, because they stay checked, but on the right side it shows that they are stopped...But the way to stop them from there is to uncheck it/them, sooo there is no logic LOL.

oh, and one more thing, I think not all startup processes are listed in the Startup List, because I can see some in the Task Manager Processes menu that are not shown in the Task Manager Startup menu.

    Hi

Like Linney stated, msconfig.exe is used for troubleshooting services and services.msc is used to configure the Services.

When using msconfig to troubleshoot services, removing the check mark from a service will Disable that service (you will see the date and time entered in the Disabled column).

If you Disable a service in Services.msc, it will disappear from the services list in msconfig.exe.

As far as Startup processes are concerned, only Optional Processes are listed in the Startup Tab of the Task Manager.  These are usually third party processes. This list will also show the source of the startup processes (Registry or Startup folder).

Windows processes are not shown in the Startup Tab since these are critical system processes.

    Regards
