I have copied lots of negatives using my camera over a light-box, but I don't have software to convert them to positive. I would have thought that Essentials photo album editor would have been able to do that. Any suggestions from the wise men and women out there in the wide world?

=================================
Try Windows Paint...
For Vista and earlier...
Open the photo in Windows Paint and go to...
Image / Invert Colors...or just type...Ctrl+I.
Windows 7...
Right click the photo in Win 7 Paint and a menu
will launch that has the Invert Color option.
Another possibility would be the freeware IrfanView...
it has an option for reversing a negative.
(FWIW...it's always a good idea to create a System
Restore point before installing software or updates)
Download IrfanView

(filename : iview436_setup.exe)
(uncheck the box if you do not want Google Chrome)
Get the plug-ins too...
IrfanView Plug-ins
http://majorgeeks.com/IrfanView_PlugIns_d4908.html
(filename : irfanview_plugins_436_setup.exe)
After installing IrfanView...open your scanned negative
in the program and go to...Image / Negative...
You will have to go to...File / Save...to save your edited
version of the photo.
In IrfanView...it is also possible to invert negatives
in a Batch. For info...Open IrfanView Help and search
for, "Batch Conversion/Rename"
