Screen resolution issue after Windows 8.1 upgrade

I use dual screen on a Dell XPS 64-bit system. Main screen is a SAMSUNG, extended screen is DELL S2409W(HDMI). After I upgraded my system from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, my extended screen DELL S2409W can't display with right resolution. My Graph card is AMD Radeon 7500. Tried to adjust resolution but the setting shows right resolution, 1920X1020 but the DELL S2409W(HDMI) shows a smaller resolution. Thank you if you could help!

Think I got this...

Go to Charms Menu (righthand side of screen) and select > Setting > Change PC Setting (located at very bottom of panel) > PC & Devices > Select Display > Under More Options - Change the size of applications, text and other items  on screen - set this to SMALLER :)

Worked for me.

    Hi

I think my answer here should help you guys out:

Thanks. Just tried that, but unfortunately it didn't work. My start screen still looks like its lower resolution. As for the browsers on the desktops, appears to only affect Internet Explorer 11. Metro apps are still affected too.

Firefox and Chrome don't scale when I drag them to the external monitor.

    :S

    I'm having the same issue.

I have been using the same monitor with my HP Envy 15 3090ca before I updated and it shows the resolution 1920 x 1020 when I connect and extend the screen.

After the update, my laptop screen sizes say they are 1920 x 1020 however when I put the start screen up on the external monitor or any app, it changes the resolution to something smaller. The desktop looks fine, until I drag my browser window from my laptop screen to the external and all of a sudden the content in the browser zooms in huge!

I adjust it then bring it back to the laptop screen and it shifts again but because I zoomed out in the previous screen, the browser content on the laptop compensate and is zoomed out also.

I like for it to be back to normal.

I am running a AMD Radeon 7xxx model too with switchable graphics; hopefully if it is AMD, they produce a updated driver for Windows 8.1 or Microsoft has another trick up their sleeves.
