The touch keyboard constantly pops up on my laptop

I have a laptop with an attached keyboard.  Every time I touch any edit field, the touch keyboard appears on my screen.  Since I already have a physical keyboard, I don’t need the touch keyboard to pop up.

This occurs in:

·         The new UI and any apps that use the new UI

·         Desktop apps, such as Office 2013

The screen orientation also sometimes rotates undesirably.

How can I stop this from occurring?

    Hi,

This behavior will occur if the form factor for your laptop is set up as if it is a tablet.

If you have a laptop with a permanently-attached keyboard and where autorotation isn’t available, try running this automated Keyboard Troubleshooter.  This troubleshooter toggles the registry keys that affect this (on-screen) touch keyboard and auto-rotation behavior.  Run the troubleshooter once to set your PC as a laptop and disable these tablet features.  You can run the troubleshooter again to turn the touch keyboard and autorotation back on, as if it is a tablet.

We do NOT recommend stopping the touchscreen service to alleviate this issue, because other features depend on that service to function properly.

    Hi.

What you need to do is this

Hit Windows Key + W and type in Servicesand hit enter.

Scroll down the list until you reach Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Serviceand double click to open.

In the Startup type drop down menu select Disabled

Underneath is Service Status, if still running hit Stop

Hit Apply and that will put an end to the keyboard popping up for those of us who have touchscreen and a perfectly good keyboard : )

lenovo yoga 13" office 2013 - onscreen keyboard popup often disables normal keyboard.

I close the lid and turn it 180 degrees and the notebook keyboard works agaiin.

Yet it is NOT a mechanical issue.

MS Office, Word is completely screwed up using window 8.1 touch screen.

Turning off touchscreen and mouse in Easy Access does not work either.

Still popping up and causing problem.

    Troubleshooting  did not help either.

MS revise your F-rated office product!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi

You may want to try my suggestion to Vidyaranjan but kind of backwards.

In the Startup type drop down menu select Automatic.

Then hit Run or Resume in the Service Statusif it is not already running.

    Worth a try : )
