Clear False Printer Jam Message

Ah!  The Joys of a PC!

Paper jammed in my Brother printer.  I cleared the paper jam.  However, the message on my PC still shows Paper Jam and won't allow printing.

Now here is the fun part.  I have both a MacBook and a relatively new HP Envy PC.   The MacBook is smart enough to know the paper jam has been cleared and I can print documents to my Brother Printer from my MacBook.   The printer works fine from the Mac.  However, my new Windows 8 PC still shows that the Brother has a Paper Jam.  How do I clear the message from my Windows 8 PC?

    Hello Jeff C Nick,

This issue might be caused when the previous printer job is still there in Windows Printer Queue.

I would suggest you to clear Windows Printer Queue and check if this fixes the issue.

    Follow these steps:

    a.       Press “Windows key + R” from the keyboard.

    b.      Type “services.msc” without quotes in the run window and hit Enter key.

    c.       Search for “Print Spooler” service.

    d.      Right click on it and select “Stop” then close services window.

    e.      Press “Windowskey + R” and paste “%windir%\System32\spool\PRINTERS” without quotes and hit Enter key.

Note: You might be prompted for UAC control permission to allow access to the folder, allow access to that folder.

    f.        You will find list of printer jobs listed in the folder.

    g.       Select all the jobs and delete it.

    h.      Close Windows Explorer.

    i.         Press “Windows key + R” from the keyboard.

    j.        Type “services.msc” without quotes in the run window and hit Enter key.

    k.       Search for “Print Spooler” service.

    l.         Right click on it and select “Start” then close services window.

    m.    Now try to print.

I hope this helps you to fix the issue. If the issue persists or you have any other issues with Windows, please do post it in Microsoft Community. We would be happy to help you.

I have been checking my Artisan 710 printer/scanner for the paper jam that appears on the screen. I have removed jammed paper from the paper tray area, but it continues to say the same thing. I have also opened the scanner area, but that did not help!!!

Also, when the printer/scanner is turning on, it makes a good awful noise for anywhere from 3-8 seconds!!!

You need to get help from the printer manufacturer--the problems have nothing to do with Windows.

This was absolutely brilliant, I wasn't sure to trust the advice but had nothing to lose as it was boarding cards for an international flight today. Did the job & now off on holiday thanks so much.
