Hello everyone, there's something I want to ask. Before I asking to you all, I want to show my specification of my notebook:

Specification:

  • System Manufacturer: Acer
  • System Model: Aspire 4253
  • BIOS: InsydeH2O Version CCB.03.60.41V1.06
  • Processor: AMD E-350 Processor (2CPUs), ~1.6GHz
  • Memory : 5120MB RAM
  • Page file: 3530MB used, 2847MB available
  • DirectX Version: DirectX 11

Display Device

  • Name: AMD Radeon HD 6310 Graphics
  • Manufacturer: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.

  • DAC Type: Internal DAC

Display Driver

  • Main Driver: aticfx64.dll
  • Version: 13.152.0.0

Now I want to ask about the problem after update or upgrade Windows 8.1 from Windows Store (from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1). The problem is:

  1. After login with password, there is blink once when Welcome screen.
  2. There isn't Windows 8 Start menu and direct to blank black screen.
  3. If I type Ctrl+Alt+Del, suddenly appear "Taskmgr.exe - Entry Point Not Found" say: The procedure entry point ?CreateRect@Value@DirectUI@@SAPEAV@HHHH@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Windows\System32\Windows.UI.Immersive.dll.
  4. Start menu didn't appear after press 'Windows' button.
  5. Taskbar and Charms bar didn't appear.
  6. Only can shutdown from command prompt (cmd).

Anybody help me? I'm looking for your answer and really need assistance. Thank you for attention and watching this post.

i found the solution in another forum:

"Yessssss!!! removing the Windows Activation Technologies folder completely and the Windows.UI.Immersive.dll in C:\windows\System32 really did the trick! THX!!!

so i started task manager(ctrl+alt+del) and chose file/New task.

    To start explorer, type  C:\

explorer opens, then go to view/folder options, set “Show hidden files” and  uncheck the “Hide protected operating system files”.

Now you can see the “Windows Activation Technologies” folder.

I could delete the 2 files in the folder, but not the Data folder because of permissions (alltough i’m admin)

You have to become owner of the WAT folder before you can delete it, right click/properties/security tab/advanced

I also removed the inheritance option, and made “everybody” the owner of the WAT folder. Also uncheck the read-only option after you changed the owner (right click/properties)

Now i could delete the WAT folder.

I also did the sfc /scannow  in console (ctrl+alt+del/file/New task. cmd  as administrator

So basically when i only did sfc /scannow  the problem kept returning, after 1 minute i was logged off automatically.  Only when i completely removed the WAT folder and the dll, the problem was gone!!!"

I try the method 3, but after I plug the Windows 8 DVD installer in DVD ROM, is not valid.

Note: I can't access charmbar and taskbar.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the update.

This issue can be caused even if the System Files are corrupted or damaged.

I recommend you to perform a Startup Repair and check if it helps.

Startup Repair is a Windows System Recovery tool that can fix certain problems, such as missing or damaged system files.

To perform Automatic repair on Windows 8 computer follow these steps:

    a.     Insert the media such as (USB or DVD) and restart your computer.

    b.     Press F12 key (typically this is F12, but it can differ between computer manufacturers) and choose the drive that you inserted the installation media into.

    c.     Once the Windows Setup window appears, follow these steps:

    d.     Click next and select Repair your computer.

    e.     You will then see a blue screen and an option to choose. Choose the option Troubleshoot and select advanced options.

    f.      You may choose Automatic Repair from Advanced boot option.

Note: Modifying BIOS/ complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.

Keep us posted on the status of the issue.

    Hi,

I would have you follow the steps below:

Let’s try these methods and check.

Method 2: I would suggest you to check the issue in safe mode

Windows Startup Settings (including safe mode)

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode

    Method 2:

I would have you disconnect any external hardware (Printers, USB devices etc) from the computer except the keyboard and the mouse.

    Method 3:

I would have you perform a repair of the Operating System,

Refer the steps for the same-

     a)       Boot with the Windows 8 DVD and then select “Next”.

     b)       Now, select “Repair” and then select “Refresh your PC”.

You may refer the article for detailed information about a Refresh-

How to restore, refresh, or reset your PC

     http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc

Note: The Refresh will uninstall and reinstall all the apps downloaded from the Windows Store. But any app downloaded from external sources will be removed.

Do get back to us and let us know the status of the issue by your next post or in case you need further assistance. We, at Microsoft strive towards excellence.
