I am getting a "moon" emoticon when typing time(s) in Windows Live Mail

If I want to write the word time(s) in an e-mail on Outlook, I get a picture of a moon inside the parentheses instead of the desired letter s.  How can I fix this?

Orig title: Parentheses give picture.

    Hi Charles,

Thanks for coming back and providing us more details in the private message area. It is possible that the emoticon was enable on your Live Mail when composing an email.

I can help you with this issue. Here's a thing. Hold ALT+F on your keyboard then choose Option and click Email. Click the Compose tab then uncheck Convert special key strokes to emoticons and click Ok.

Also, please be informed that the program you are using when accessing an email is still Windows Live Mail. It's just the term Hotmail (in the web) was change to Outlook.com. Nevertheless, everything we're all set on your emails on that program (WLM)

Let us know how you like the new release.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Being in the same situation can be frustrating as you want to type in the desired letter but it doesn't give you the same result. Let me try to help you sort this out.

When you say "on Outlook", are you referring to the Outlook mail client or the Outlook.com web interface? Let us know. We also would like to know which area are you typing the letters that gives you a picture instead of letters.

Please refer to my private message as we will be exchanging information securely. Sign in to this forum and click the red texts saying you have a private reply.

    Thanks!
