I am unable to install windows essentials due to an error 0x80040605 source: crt110-i386. Is there any one to help me regarding this problem?

    Hello,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community Forum. I understand that you're having issues in installing Windows Essentials as you're receiving an error code 0x80040605. I'll assist you on your inquiry.

    It is possible that the issue happens because you still have Windows Essentials within your computer. For troubleshooting purposes, please follow the steps below:

    1. Perform **Windows Update**

    2. Uninstall Essentials by following the steps within this **link**.

    **3.******Delete the following files for a clean installation:

    For 32 bit

    C:\Program Files\Windows Live

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows Live

    For 64 bit

    C:\Program Files(x86)\Windows Live

    C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Windows Live

    **4.******Disable firewall (Note that disabling the firewall makes your computer prone to virus attack. We suggest that you only visit the websites below and enable your firewall after installation is done).

    **5.******Reset browser to factory settings.

    **6.******Reinstall Windows Essentials:

    **Windows Essentials 2012******(for Windows 7 and Windows 8)

    **Windows Essentials 2011** (for Windows Vista and Windows 7)

    **Note:**Please read the system requirements before installing Windows Essentials 2012.

    I have tried the solutions proposed here and I get the same error messages that this post starts with.

    Hi,

    This might be too late for some, but:

    Try following what was said above of deleting:

    C:\Program Files\Windows Live

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows Live

    Then...

    Try rolling your clock back to I'll say (today's date) 10/25/2011. Be sure it's set to 2011!

    Run setup again.

    And be sure that "C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Shared" or "C:\Program Files (x86)"

    contains at least: 22 Files, 1 Folders. My actual install had uxCore.dll missing, so I installed on VM to try to get this folder completely installed. Then copied it back to my own PC.

    You will find this silly as you read it, but I actually got mine working this way.

    So sad.
