Video and audio are out of sync when saving

So, I am uploading a guitar cover to YouTube but I'm not able to do it because I am stuck editing in Windows Live Movie Maker. The problem I am having is the timing of the audio. Perhaps I am doing it incorrectly or maybe I am not patient enough, but, I feel as if something is incorrect. For example, My video starts and the audio starts at the same time. After I save the movie, the audio gets out of sync. Per say, The guitar in the song starts at 0.30 seconds and in my video, it starts at 0.32 seconds. Every time I change the meter, it goes out of sync like crazy and nothing makes sense after it. AND, when I got the audio PERFECTLY in sync and saved afterwards, it went out of sync completely when I tried playing the video to see how it turned out. Help? Thanks in advance!!

Most often when I've seen synchronization issues, the cause has been the audio file.  This especially true if you are using a high-bitrate .mp3 file or perhaps some other file type.

The quickest fix is to convert the .mp3 to .wma or .wav format and use that file instead.

I'm experiencing the same problem. When previewing the sound is perfectly in sync. When I go to Save Movie the product I get has one of the video clips off sync.

    • Does the video part and audio part of the movie you created were stand-alone files?

    They are the same file.

    • Did you apply any effects or transitions that may caused the issue?

No transitions used in this part of the video.

    • If you preview the video before saving, do you experience the same issue?

    No.

    • What saving settings did you used in your movie? (ex. For computer, For email)

I've tried both saving for HD and recommended settings, I've saved in mp4 and WMV.

    • What are the file types used in the movie?

All the file types are MP4 shot on a Canon T4I

    • What is the version of your Movie Maker? To check, press ALT + F in Movie Maker then click About Movie Maker.

    Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3522.0110)

    • What is the operating system you are using?

    Windows 7

    Hello,

Thanks for posting. Since you did not provide the operating system you have, I suggest that you try updating to the latest version of Movie Maker in case you are using Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 through this **link**. In case updating did not help, I would like to reiterate the questions left unanswered since this will help us isolate your concern. Also, please check by clicking the play button to preview the video before saving so we can check if there is a sync issue even on the preview.

    We'll wait for your response.

    Regards,

    Richard

    I have the 2011 version!

I did not add any effects or transitions.

I haven't tried the previewing option

I don't really choose an option since there is two options only. I choose the save movie button and it just sends me to the computer files and i save my movie there.

    Hi RaulSanchezCaz,

Thanks for posting. I understand that you are having sync issues with your movie. To further isolate the issue, I would like to ask some questions:

    • Does the video part and audio part of the movie you created were stand-alone files?
    • Did you apply any effects or transitions that may caused the issue?
    • What meter are you trying to change?
    • If you preview the video before saving, do you experience the same issue?
    • What saving settings did you used in your movie? (ex. For computer, For email)
    • What are the file types used in the movie?
    • What is the version of your Movie Maker? To check, press ALT + F in Movie Maker then click About Movie Maker.
    • What is the operating system you are using?

    We'll wait for your response.

    Regards,

    Richard
