Keyboard types letters when number keys typed

I updated my Windows 8 Pro to Windows 8.1 Pro, Now my Keyboard numbers type as 'abcde...' letters.

When I type the 'number keys' (either in the top row above the alphabet or using the numbers pad) the field shows the alphabet in sequence, "a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i"; Then, if it press any number key after pressing them 9 times, the correct numbers start to display.

when I upgraded to 8.1, there was an icon displayed titled "Keyboard". As I did not know what this meant, I choose to 'configure later' and proceeded with the install. I have a desktop HP PC with AMD dual core processor and use Logitech WiFi mouse and keyboard.

I've just noticed in the Control Panel under 'Keyboard' the Logitech device is not listed. Maybe the device was 'wiped' during the upgrade and I need to reinstall the device using the CD that came with the keyboard/mouse package. I'll try that now and wait to see if someone can give an update on how to correct this malfunction.

Please help

    Hi David,

This issue occurs due to keyboard driver issue.

Let’s try the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

I would suggest you to download the Keyboard drivers from the manufactures’ website and check if it helps.

    Logitech keyboard Drives: http://www.logitech.com/en-in/support/keyboards

    Method 2:

I would suggest you to run the hardware troubleshooter and check if it helps.

    a.    Press Windows key + W to search Settings.

    b.    Type “Troubleshoot” without quotes and click on Troubleshooting.

    c.    In the new window, click Hardware and Sound.

    Method 3:

If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the Keyboard drives and check if it helps.

Press Windows Key +R, type devmgmt.msc to open the Device Manager.

Hope the information provided is helpful.
