I've got a question about this & just wanted to know if someone can enlighten me - I'm new to computers. I have 2 wireless driver programs on my PC. One is Realtek WLAN Driver & the other is Realtek Wireless LAN Driver. Is one for the ethernet connection & one for wi-fi ? I'm just curious about why I have 2 of them. I have a Toshiba S55-A5294 PC with 8.1 update from 8.0 pre-installed. Appreciate some clarity on this.

    Hi Joe,

Have you started seeing this after updating to WIndows 8.1?

WLAN or Wireless Local Area Network is a term to refer to a Local Area Network that does not need cables to connect the different devices. WLAN is also Wireless LAN.

It could be possible that there are different wireless devices on the PC.

    Check the Toshiba website:

I would also suggest you to send us a screenshot of the wireless devices you see.

How to include a screenshot in your post

    Thank you
