Hi! I have an Acer Aspire E1-571 laptop that works fine then suddenly it gives a blue screen. It appeared after watching a movie from my CD Drive. I was not able to read the message for it happens very quickly and it shuts down. After, I reopen it and this message appeared:

PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, check cablePXE-M0F: Exiting Brodcom PXE ROM

I don't know what to do so I shut it down again and remove the external drives (the cd and a flash drive). Then after a few hours, I reopen it then it loads my system. After few hours of use, the blue screen appeared again. I shut it down and reopen it then show the PXE error the second time. Then I shut and open it and it loads again.

After, here's my problem, the process have gotten really really slow that it takes more than 10mins loading to the Log In screen, and after typing in my password it again consumes more than 10mins before loading the desktop. The processes are also very very slow that it takes 30mins for just copying 10mb (more or less) amount  of data. What could have happened?

Please help me. Thanks a lot!

    Hello Daisy,

Thanks for your reply. As even after performing system restore and changing the BIOS order your computer is booting up very slow and working very slow, so I would suggest you to perform the steps given below:

Method 1: Run Microsoft safety Scan

Here is the link for running a Microsoft safety scan:

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

Method 2:  Boot in safe mode and checkTry to boot in safe mode and check do you still have the same issue:

Here is the link for booting in safe mode:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7

If it works fine in safe mode, perform clean boot.

Here is the link for performing a clean boot:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps from section “How to reset the computer to start as usual after clean boot troubleshooting” to reset the computer to start as usual.

Method 3: Disable security software installed temporarily

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Also refer to the link given below:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/optimize-windows-better-performance#optimize-windows-better-performance=windows-7

Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

Please provide us the Event Viewer logs. Here is the link for providing Event Viewer logs:

    Open Event Viewer

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-Event-Viewer

What information appears in event logs (Event Viewer)?

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-information-appears-in-event-logs-Event-Viewer

Try to follow the steps given above and let us know the results.

    Thank you.

    Thank you for the reply!

My laptop loads fast before the blue screen and the error. Now when I turn it on it loads really really slow that even copying less than 90 MB amount of data consumes almost 5 hours, I don't even dare open other programs because the laptop frequently hangs up.

And nope, it does not occur when watching movies, it hangs up to every process I make: opening window explorer, creating new folder, transferring focus from one tab to another, etc.

I have also tried System restore, it had successfully restored my system but still no good.

I have change the boot order to CD Drive first then the hard drive, again it still loads very slow.

And I have also tried checking the hard disk for errors, its seem nothing is wrong.

    Hello Daisy,

I have understood that you get an error message after computer start up. And it takes time to load the desktop.

For fixing the issue, I would like to know the answers of the following questions:

    1) Does  the issue occurs only while watching a movie?

Try playing a different movie and check.

This issue is often caused by either an incorrect setting in CMOS Setup or a bad boot device, such as a bad hard drive.

Try to check the following things:

    1. Verify your boot options are properly set in CMOS setup. We recommend having the CD or disc drive as your first boot device and then hard drive as the second boot device.
    2. If your CMOS Setup has an option to boot from the LAN disable this option.

If this does not resolve the issue, try resetting the CMOS values to the default settings.

You may contact your computer manufacturer to do so.

Important: Modifying BIOS/ complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.

For blue screen error, refer to the following link:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Resolving-stop-blue-screen-errors-in-Windows-7

Note: W**hen you use System Restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you installed are removed.

Try to check above given settings and let us know the results.

    Thank you.
