Hi, I got some information on what to do about error code 43, when it appears.  I have an optical mouse, and sometimes it won't get recognized, or it will also sometimes stop being recognized, by the computer, and the cursor will go dead, and then i have to turn on my pad to get back out.

Like i said, I got some advice on what to do about it, BUT, I'd like to know what error code 43 refers to, and whether there is an underlying problem that causes this to recur - especially whether it might mean there is something wrong with the mouse itself???

thanks,

Eldon

PS, this question doesn't fall into any of the categories i was forced to click on to submit the question, so could someone please refer the question and/or create a new question category?????????

I followed the instructions I got the first time i asked, Deepak.

They did not include these instructions.  I will see if i can fetch the optical mouse back

and follow these instructions.  In the meantime, another mouse i purchased seems to be working.

    Hi,

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers!

Error Code 43 is a Device Manager error that means the following:

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

    1.       When do you get the error?

    2.       Have you made any changes to the system?

    3.       What is the make and model of your mouse?

When you get this error with USB devices it’s because one of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some manner. This can be because of corruption in one of the loaded drivers and the driver cache just needs to be flushed. Unplugging the computer sometimes doesn’t resolve the problem because the battery still holds power. To fix this, unplug all of your USB devices, then turn off the PC and take out the battery (This is assuming that you’re on a laptop), let the PC set for about 5 minutes, then put the battery back in and restart the PC. Next, plug your USB devices back in one at a time and make sure that they work.

If this does not work or you’re on a desktop, follow this:

    Refer to section: Code 43.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!
