<Original title: Windows 7 Sound>

I have problems with my headphones and speakers. When i try to play a song on my computer it plays for about like 5 seconds and then it stops because of a windows media player error showing that no audio device is connected, but i have my headphones connected. The headphones are new i bought them 2 weeks ago,and I bought my computer 3 months ago.I would like to know is the problem with the OS(Windows 7 Ultimate) or with my audio drivers? The drivers are updated and I have the latest version of "Releatek High Definiton".The problem started a month after i bought my computer. Can anyone help me understand what's the problem cause i want to fix this...

    Hello Stefan,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

The issue description points out to the fact that there is no sound in your head phones.

It might be the issue with the sound drivers of your computer.

    I would like to know:

    1. Are you getting sound from speakers?
    2. Are you facing the same issue if you connect any external speakers?
    3. Are you getting Windows startup sound when you login to the computer?
    4. What is the make and model of the computer?
    5. Have you made any changes to the computer, prior to the issue?
    6. Are you facing this issue only while playing sound on Windows Media Player?

If the issue occurs only with Windows Media Player, then I would suggest you to run Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-the-Windows-Media-Player-Settings-troubleshooter

I would suggest you to try the following methods:

    Method 1:

Step 1: Let's make sure that your playback devices are enabled and set as default sound device.

    1. Right Click on speaker icon on your taskbar and Select Playback devices from the notification area.

A new window titled Sound should open up.

    1. Right click on the blank area place a check mark on “Select Disabled Devices” and “Select Disconnected Devices”.
    2. Select your speakers and headphones, Right-click on it and select enable to make sure that it is enabled.
    3. Select the External Speaker and click on “Set Default” button to set it as default device.

Step 2: Try Check the status of sound card in device manager if there is any exclamation mark.

    Follow the steps given:

    a) Click On Start.

    b) Type Device Manager in Search box and press Enter.

    c) Open Device Manager.

    d) Expand Sound Card and check there is any exclamation mark.

    Method 2:

Step 1: You can also try the troubleshooter to discover any connection issues that may exist, instructions are below:

    Open the Playing Audio troubleshooter

Step 2: Try to run a fixit

    Hello Stefan,

Thank you for the answers to the asked questions.

    1. When you say, "plugged in the front part", do you mean that the headphones work when plugged in the front jack and do not work when plugged in the rear jack?
    2. If this is the case, then have you tried other external speakers to work, when plugged in the rear jack?

The issue may rest with the rear jack and you may need to contact the system manufacturer for the port repair/replacement.

    Hope this information helps.
