Hello Stefan,
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.
The issue description points out to the fact that there is no sound in your head phones.
It might be the issue with the sound drivers of your computer.
I would like to know:
- Are you getting sound from speakers?
- Are you facing the same issue if you connect any external speakers?
- Are you getting Windows startup sound when you login to the computer?
- What is the make and model of the computer?
- Have you made any changes to the computer, prior to the issue?
- Are you facing this issue only while playing sound on Windows Media Player?
If the issue occurs only with Windows Media Player, then I would suggest you to run Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter:

- Select your speakers and headphones, Right-click on it and select enable to make sure that it is enabled.
