I am not able to find a Driver for my hp 802.11b/g wireless network adapter ( Atheros AR2415 b2a ) which came in stock with my PC HP Media Center Desktop m8170in.

I have been getting the error: This device cannot start (Code :10) since I upgraded to Windows 8.1

    Hi Kevin,

    Thanks for your reply.

I had already tried that link.

But the drivers for the WLAN adapter are not available for windows 7. Only under windows Vista, it shows me that particular driver( In the HP link).

Can you help me with some other solution?

    Thanks.

    Hi Arjun,

There are no Windows 8.1 drivers available for the Wireless network adapters. I would suggest you to install the Windows 7 driver in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

Once the drivers are downloaded and saved on the desktop, do the following.

    • Right click on Start button and select Device Manager.
    • Browse network adapter, right click on the network driver and click on Uninstall.
    • Restart the computer and go to network adapter and check if the device is detected.
    • Right click on it and select update driver software. Select Browse my computer for driver software'
    • Select let me pick from the list of device drivers from the computer and select the compatible drivers. Follow the on screen instructions and complete the installation.

If the issue persists, install the drivers that you have downloaded from the HP website.

    Let us know the results.
