    Hi Nikhil,

This issue might occur due to compatibility issues of the catalyst controller with Windows 8.1.

First of all, check if installing the latest updates on AMD website for AMD catalyst controller and the driver fixes the issue. Refer to the link:

    http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/mobile?os=Windows 8.1 – 64

If not, try installing the driver and the catalyst controller in Windows compatibility mode and see if it works. Follow the methods:

    Method 1:

First of all, uninstall the current version of catalyst controller software related to AMD drivers and install them in a different directory rather than installing them in the default one.

    a) Press Windows+X key and select Control Panel.

    b) Locate the AMD catalyst controller software and double click on it to uninstall.

    c) Navigate to the folder that contains the setup file of the software and double click on the software and follow the onscreen instructions.

    d) While choosing the drive/folder location during the setup, browse to a different folder (you can create a new folder).

Check if installing the software in a new directory fixes the issue. If not, proceed to the next method.

    Method 2:

Let’s try uninstalling the driver and catalyst controller and install it Windows compatibility mode. Follow the steps:

    a) Press Windows+X key and select Device Manager.

    b) Locate Display adapter and expand the driver icon. Right Click on the driver and select Uninstall.

    c) Follow the onscreen instructions to do so.

    d) Open the folder which contains the latest display driver that you have downloaded.

    e) Right click on the setup file of the driver and click on Properties.

    f) Go to Compatibility tab and check the box which states “Run this program in compatibility mode for”.

    g) Select the version of Windows 8 from the drop down list.

    h) Click on OK.

    i) Follow the onscreen instructions to install the driver.

You can follow the same steps after uninstalling the catalyst controller software and installing it in Windows compatibility mode.

On Windows 8.1, this is how you install programs in compatibility mode by running compatibility troubleshooter:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/older-programs-compatible-version-windows

If the issue still persists, you can post the same query on AMD website for further assistance:

    http://forums.amd.com/game/

Please let us know if you need more assistance on this issue.

    Hi Nikhil,

Well, the suggestion are for Windows 8.1. If you are facing the issues on Windows 8 as well after downgrading from Windows 8.1, you can follow the methods as suggested earlier. But, refer to the link to download the latest video driver from Dell website:

    http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/inspiron-15r-se-7520?s=dhs&~ck=mn

If the issue still persists, you can contact Dell as suggested earlier.

Please let us know about the results.
