What a pain in the a**...  Bluestacks should be banned for making it this difficult to remove.  First, you need to hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete and stop the Bluestacks processes that are running.  Only then can you go to explorer and delete their folders.  Problem is, depending on where you installed the software, you will need elevated rights to delete the files.  A good workaround is to go into the folders individually and delete them from within the folder.  Then go back out and delete the folders.  I had Bluestacks folders in C:\Program Files, C:\ProgramData and C:\Bluestacks.  Delete them all.

Next, go to the root of your C:\ in Windows Explorer and type "Bluestacks" in the search field.  Delete ALL of your findings.

You should now have no remnants of Bluestacks except that annoying entry in your "Add and remove programs".  Why is it there?  Because Bluestacks installer didn't remove any registry entries.  So now hit Start->run->regedit

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and then you will have to look through each of the random alpha numeric entries for an indication of Bluestacks.  It will be in the description on the right and there will only be one.  You need to delete it.  There is only one.  DO NOT delete the wrong one.  Finally, if you care to be tidy, remove all the Bluestacks registry entries under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bluestacks.

Reboot and check add/remove programs to make sure it's all gone.  Hope this helps.

    Hi,

You may face this issue if the program/process is still on use when you are trying to uninstall it. I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if it works for you.

    Method 1:

Place the computer in Clean Boot and then try to uninstall BlueStack and check if the issue persists. Clean Boot will help you disable all third party programs/apps, so that you can complete the uninstallation.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7/8/8.1:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After clean boot troubleshooting step, refer to the section "How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot" in the provided link to return your computer to Normal startup mode.

    Method 2:

Run the Microsoft Safety Scanner and check if there any Virus threats found.

    Microsoft Safety Scanner: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. During this 10 days, it will remove all the virus infected files and folders. I suggest you to create a backup of your data and then Install Microsoft Safety Scanner.

    Method 3:

Try deleting the BlueStack folder from the Program Files folder and check if it helps.

Please reply with the status of the issue, so that we could help you better.

After about 2 hours of internet search, I came across this and I found the simple solution. Go to your files and do a search in the C drive for "blue stacks." Before you delete anything, go to the task manager (ctrl+shift+delete) and make sure you turn off blue stacks as you won't be able to delete an open/running program. Once your turn it off just select the first blue stacks hold down shift and click on the bottom one, and then right click and delete. You will probably have a couple of notification windows pop up. This are just security windows asking for administration. No passwords required unless you have Admin. pass set up. Once done, restart your computer, all notifications should be gone and at last NO MORE FREAKING BLUE STACKS!

    thanks for your replay...

    Method 1 fails,still shows same error.Nothing happens.

I already have kaspersky internet security 2013 original version. It says their wont be any malware or virus. So i didnt tried method 2.

I heard method 3,Try deleting the BlueStack folder from the Program Files folder  followed by deleting Bluestack registry files will help to remove it. But i didnt tried. Waiting for your opinion....thanks
