    Hi Kaspar,

    As per the Windows Compatibility Center and documentation for LifeCam VX-1000, there are no drivers for Windows 8. The device is not compatible with Windows 8.

    However, To use the device in Windows 8,  you can install Windows 7 drivers for Windows 8 in compatibility mode.

    Try the steps below and check if it helps.

    a.       Download the installation file from the website http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-in/d/lifecam-vx-1000

    b.      Right-click on the setup files and click on Properties.

    c.       Click on the Compatibility tab and check the box Run this program in compatibility mode for and select Windows 7 operating system from the drop down.

    d.      Click on Apply and click OK and run the file to install it.
