mouse/touch pad won't work after login

I have a Toshiba Satellite with Windows 8, bought it this way, I have had it for about a month, have been running updates when suggested, there are 2 admin accounts and one guest account. I'm currently on the second admin account and the issue that is at hand is not happening here, it's only happening on the main user/admin account. When the computer is on the login screen the mouse pointer is visible and the touch pad is working, but once I log in to the account (again, it's only happening on one account) the touch pad seems to no longer work and there is no mouse pointer on the screen. I've tried troubleshooting like suggested in answers to similar questions but it doesn't seem to find the issue. The issue came up today, right before I decided to do an update, once the problem appeared I tried the update, came back a few hours later and the issue is still here. What do? haha Also, I can't afford to buy a plug in mouse or what ever and don't own one currently.

Hey Jessica,

What is the model of your laptop?

You can search for the drivers on the link given below.

http://support.toshiba.com/

If you do not get the drivers for Windows 8 then you can try to install the drivers available for earlier version of Windows in compatibility mode.

Hello, I had this problem as well. It is not a driver issue if it works on some profiles or at the login screen. What worked for me was going to control panel ---> hardware and sound ---> mouse ---> Device settings and from there click on the touch pad and click 'enable'. Somehow mine had gotten disabled and this fixed it. Hope it works for you as well!

Tovlamia:  This is a true statement it is an issue of it getting disabled.  And your fix is correct except for one problem.  If the mouse pointer is disable we are not able to navigate to this screen to enable it again.  I'm using another laptop to do the research.  I believe it is a sticky key or a control alt or control FN that was accidentally done to disable the pointer.  So I need to know what combination of control alt or control FN will enable it again.  Unfortunately we accidentally hit two keys at a time regularly when working on the keyboard.
