Unable to install Xbox 360 controller driver.

I have installed the win7 64 bit software driver for the xbox 360 remote (wired). A restart later, I plug in the remote and it's not working. The driver does not show up in the Device Manager like it says on the forum topics, and the controller shows as not having a driver installed. I run joy.cpl and the xbox 360 accessories and neither recognize it, and the 4 lights on the remote blink faintly when I put it in and remain off. It's a MadCatz Gamestop Wired Xbox 360 controller, but I do not think that is the problem because prior to wiping my computer, it ran fine. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling all the software, and the remote itself, as well as removing it from device driver and unplugging/plugging it in. I'm not sure what to do, because it only frustrates me that I've previously installed it and it won't work now.

    1. How are you trying to update driver for Xbox 360 controller?
    2. When you try to install the Xbox 360 controller driver manually, does it installs successfully? Does it show in device manager, before you restart your computer?

    Looks like the Xbox 360 controller driver is not installed properly or if installed not getting configured properly with windows.

    me too,exept on win10 64bit,but it worked on all my 32 bit computers
