I'm having a problem installing my headset (MEDION ERAZER USB 5.1 GAMING HEADSET X83051) because the installation stops at an error message thtat says 'Activate the device: USB Multi-Channel audio device!'

It used to work before, but after I formated my computer, I could not install it anymore. So please, what do I have to do to make it work again?

Well, I still can't resolve this problem. It's like I haven't plugged the headset in.

The first driver is the basic from windows, the second one id from Realtek. And that's it.

    Hello Halley,

Thank you for posting query in Microsoft Community.

Is this issue confined with a particular USB device?

You may run the troubleshooter and check if that helps:.

Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-the-Hardware-and-Devices-troubleshooter

You may also try following steps to activate the device and check if that helps:

    1. Input your audio device into a USB port or other sound-affiliated port.
    2. Open the computer's Control Panel. This may be launched from "My Computer" or from the "Start" menu. Choose the "System" option within the Control Panel. Alternately, the System Properties of the computer may also be launched by right-clicking the "My Computer" icon or menu and choosing "Properties."
    3. Click the "Hardware" tab in the "System Properties" window. Click Device Manager" button. A new window will open.
    4. Locate the "Sound, video and game controllers" section of the Device Manager window. If necessary, expand the list by clicking the plus sign next to the category heading. Your audio device should appear in this list.
    5. Double-click the audio device in the list. A new window will open with the properties for your audio device. The window should default to the "General" tab. If it does not, click the "General" tab.
    6. Choose the "Use this device (enable)" option in the "Device usage" drop-down menu at the bottom of the window.
    7. Click "OK" button. The audio device is now activated for use on the computer.
    8. Activate Drivers. Acquire the hardware drivers for your audio device. If the device is not listed in the Device Manager, or if the listing contains a yellow exclamation point next to the device title, then the operating system is unable to communicate effectively with the device, and it is not activated. The drivers are included on a CD that came with the device. Alternately, you may download them from the device manufacturer's website, if necessary
    9. Run the driver setup program you acquired. The audio device drivers are installed into the system for activation.
    10. Reboot the computer.
    11. Return to the "Device Manager" and locate the audio device in the list. It should no longer have a yellow exclamation point. The device is now activated for use.
