    Hi,

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION bug check: This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.

This error has been linked to excessive paged pool usage and may occur due to user-mode graphics driver's crossing over and passing bad data to the kernel code.

Before we proceed troubleshooting this issue, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions.

    1. Were there any recent changes made to the computer prior to the issue?
    2. When exactly are you getting a blue screen error?
    3. Which antivirus program is installed on the computer?
    4. Does the issue occur in Safe mode?

Unplug all the external devices connected to your system (except the Keyboard and mouse) and check if it helps. I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned and later update us on the status of the issue**.**

Method 1: I would suggest you to try updating the drivers for the Video card and check if that helps.

    Download and install drivers

Method 2: You may also try running a memory diagnostic and check for the issue.

    a. On New Start screen window.

    b. Type Diagnose your computer.

    c. Click on Diagnose your computer’s memory problem. Follow the instructions to run it.

Method 3: You may refer the steps from this Microsoft KB article to fix SFC (System File Checker tool) scan errors.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us

You may also follow the suggestion provided by "Vikrant Yadav" from this link and check. This thread is for Windows 8 which also holds good for Windows 8.1:

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance with Windows, let us know and will be glad to help.

    Hi Guys,

I've just started getting this exact same problem (7th Feb 2014), hh:06 for me.

On the 5th around 7:00am, an update was installed (KB2929825), no updates since, except for Defender.

I uninstalled the mentioned update, but problem is still occurring, even shutting down the computer for 10 minutes has not helped.

    The sfc scan reported back

corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log. windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example c:\windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not supported in offline servicing scenarios.

Will look further into this if I can.

Defender is the anti-virus program I am using.

    Memory test was fine.

The computer is currently sitting in 'safe mode' and I will update again once the hour has elapsed (about 30 mins before usual restart)

    PC Spec is :-

    Windows 8.1 64Bit

    8GB Corsair Ram

    AMD Radeon 6970 2GB

    1TB hard drive (c) and 500Mb hard drive d (d)

    Intel i5-2500 CPU

    Motherboard - ASUS P8P67 PRO V3

    Regards,

    Mark
