Original title: CONDUIT.COM

My web browser has been replaced by conduit.com

I cannot delete it and the Web suggests that I need to pay to restore the PC back to having Google.

Is there a no cost solution to removing Conduit from my PC

My web browser has been replaced by conduit.com

I cannot delete it and the Web suggests that I need to pay to restore the PC back to having Google.

    Hi,

Go to Control Panel> Programs and features and uninstall any of these you find:

    Conduit

    Conduit/toggle

    Utorrent

    Yontoo

    Babylon

    SweetPacks

    ProtectSearch

If you don't find any of those, sort installed programs by "installed" (date) and research

(Bing or Google) the last few installed programs. Uninstall suspicious programs.

After uninstalling any/all  of the listed programs, go to Tools on the Internet Explorer toolbar

(or Alt + t)> Manage add-ons (Show: All add-ons) and disable suspicious add-ons. Do the

same for Search Providers. You may have to set another search provider as default before removing Conduit.

Also, from Internet Options> General tab, set another homepage and remove Conduit if it's listed.

Also see if your shortcuts (on Start Menu, Taskbar, Desktop, etc) to open Internet Explorer have been modified.

Right-click each IE shortcut> Properties> Shortcut. In the Target field, if a URL  has been added, edit the URL out.

    Example: You would change "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" www.yahoo.com

     to

    "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"

    Hi!

Maybe I can help you out on this one.

Conduit is a malicious search engine that gives you false results and malicious ads on their home page. Here are few steps on how you can solve this issue:

    • Reset Internet Explorer and other browsers. You can refer to this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737
    • You also have to uninstall these programs on your program list: Search Protect, Conduit, Safe Search and other search engines that you're not totally aware of.
    • You need to also remove the registry keys associated with Conduit. Let me just remind you that you need to export the registry before you do this step in case something happens. To search for those keys, press Ctrl + F, type the word "Conduit" then click on Find Next. After deleting a specific key, just press F3 to continue searching the whole registry.

    Thanks!

    Hi Don,

I followed your suggestions implicitly. It clears Conduit, however it returns within a couple of days and lodges itself in my 'Programs' folder and I then have to do it all again. I'll keep trying.
