Can't install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable in Windows 8.1

Hi there,

I was trying install the latest version of my anti-virus (Bitdefender) after upgrading to 8.1 and I keep getting errors about being unable to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable. I've tried installing x86 and x64. I have a 64-bit system. When I try to install x86, which Bitdefender tech says I need to install, it can't find the source file. When I try to install x64, it says there is already a newer version on the system. There are already Visual C++  2010 Redistributable x64 and x86 files installed with a date of 2012. I'm not sure what to do at this point. Is there any kind of fix for this? Error messages and list of installed files are below.

Thanks,

Jen

    Hi Jenifer,

What is the version of Bitdefender you are trying to install?

The reason why you are unable to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 on your windows 8 computer is that it is not compatible. Therefore I would suggest you to uninstall the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 from your computer ad then install Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 on your computer.

    Follow the steps given below.

Method 1: Uninstall the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 from your computer.

Follow the steps when your computer has booted to desktop.

    a) Press Windows + x key together and select Control Panel.

    b) Click on Programs and Features.

    c) Locate Microsoft Visual C++ 2010, right click and select Uninstall.

    e) Follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2010.

Method 2: Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 and install.

Click on the link given below and install in on your computer.

Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013

Install the Bit defender on your computer and check if it gets installed successfully. If it fails to install then try to install Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Packages in compatibility mode. Follow the steps given in the link given below to install the Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Packages in compatibility mode.

    Hi PranavMishra5582,

My name is John Eline and I'm replying to the Answer you gave to Jennifer concerning her

problem in getting Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable installed in Windows 8.1.

I have a similar problem except my problem has to do with Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable x64. I received the same "Visual Studio" error message box with "Installation

    Did Not Succeed"!

I'm trying to install Nero 12 Platinum software and during the install a dialog box comes up

listing software programs that need to be installed for Nero 12 Platinum to work correctly and

the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable x64 is first on the list. When I click on the

"Install" button I receive a message: ""The installation of Microsoft Redist 2010 SP1 (x64) has

failed." The Nero 12 Platinum install program exits!

I am using Windows 8.1 Pro Operating System.

Is there any way I can get Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable x64 installed?

I tried installing both Nero 12 Platinum and Microsoft Redist 2010 SP1 (x64) using the

"Compatibility Mode" and it still didn't install!

Please reply to my email address below.

Thanks for your time and help!

    Sincerely,

    John Eline
