I have an icon in my bottom toolbar that is called ATD control center and it continues to pop up and has not response when clicked on. The only way to close it is though task manager. I am running windows 8 pro.

I think that I have found out how to fix it, though I can't guarantee it won't come back.

    1. ctrl+alt+del > Task Manager.
    2. Right click on ETD control center then went to Open file location and find ETD Control Helper.
    3. Go back to Task Manager and right click on ETD Control Center and end task.
    4. Really quickly (before ETD Control Center starts back up) delete ETD Control Center Helper.
    5. Once more end ETD Control Center and it should go away (albeit you no longer have multi-touch capabilities)
    6. Restart computer.

I don't know if it was just a fluke and it will come back eventually, but this worked for me for the moment.

I have that same problem, the ETD control center icon on the taskbar, and I cannot get rid of it. I'm using an Acer Aspire 5253-BZ453, and the problem started when I upgraded from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 8 Pro.
