How to turn Skype Click-to-call off effectively?

Is it just my computer, or do other people find that, while browsing, Google Chrome or Explorer 7 will suddenly lock, become unresponsive and the message "Plug-In Crashed: the following plug-in has crashed; Skype Click-To Call. Do you want to stop it?" The difficulty is that while most times clicking YES to turning off the plug in will work, a number of times it simply repeats the message adding the page Unresponsive message to it and the entire program needs restarting, which also generates "Not Responding" messages while trying to shut down.

To be clear - I do not have Skype open while browsing, and am fairly certain people are not trying to call me on these occasions on Skype. Worse, there are sites that i cannot even access without totally crashing in this manner even if it is the only tab open: Some of these sites have a lot of numbers on them and that might be the cause if Skype is busy trying to highlight them as phone numbers when they aren't.

In any event, I'm getting tired of that tinkly piano tone . . . Any ideas?

Your message is barely coherent. I suppose if I read it carefully several times, I might be able to make sense of it, but I'm not going to do that.

If you are experiencing some issues, you really need to write your issue out in plain English (with no abbreviations and internet syntax slang) if you want anyone to understand your issue and attempt to help you fix it.

Go to your computer's control panel, select the Add or Remove Programs option and uninstall the Skype Click to Call app.

Close your browser and open it up again after you've uninstalled the app and you won't see it any more.  Since this app was installed without your knowledge, it may get reinstalled the next time Skype is updated on your computer (I don't know this for sure, but I'll be looking to see if its there again the next time I upgrade Skype)
