HTMLayout.dll cannot be loaded

Original Title: HTMLayout.dll

I've noticed that every time I try to install an app that uses this dll file (AVG, Avast, etc), an error will appear "HTMLayout.dll cannot be loaded".

I've tried all the solutions that I could find, such as manually downloading the dll file and putting into the system folder, running in compatibility mode, etc etc but none of them seems to work.

Whats really weird is that at first when I bought my computer 2 months ago, I had no problem installing and using those applications. It seems like after a few days this problem started occuring. My guess is that it is one of the updates, even though I'm not sure which one it is.

I'm currently using windows 8.1 64 bit.

Thank you for the help in advance.

    Hi Daniel Lim,

    1. You get this error message when you try to install any apps or only the apps related to AVG?
    2. What is the complete error message?

htmlayout.dll is usually associated with malware.

You system may be affected by Virus/Malware, I would suggest you to run Microsoft Safety Scanner on your computer and check if it detects anything.

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

Please post with the required information.

    Hi Daniel,

You can perform a restore prior to the issue.

Refer to the link to restore the computer:

Refer the section ” Restore your PC to an earlier point in time

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc

If the issue still persists, you can post the same query on Avast forum. Refer to the link:

    http://forum.avast.com/

Feel free to ask more queries on Windows.

I checked using the scanner and I found no virus or anything.

I get this error message on the applications that seem to use the HTMLayout.dll. I've tried installing AVG and Avast antivirus so far, both cannot be installed. The rest of the applications seems to work fine.
