Issues with Windows 8.1 and connecting to wifi repeater.

I am having issues. Ever since the Windows 8.1 update I have not been able to connect to the wifi repeater I use in the upstairs bedrooms of my house (to get better wifi signal) it just says 'limited' all the time.

I assumed it was just that my repeater/extender had broken/stopped working - so have one coming in the post, but after doing a little research found that it may be an issue with 8.1 update and connecting to any extender or repeater ?

Any one got any ideas? Thanks.

I am not over tech savvy - although I do have a basic idea and can usually fix most issues myself - but this one really does have me stumped :(

Thanks.

    Hi Steph,

Limited connection means the PC has successfully connected to the router, but the PC wasn't assigned a valid IP address, so you can't actually get to the Internet. It can also indicate that a valid IP address was assigned but that the PC doesn't have Internet connectivity. If you're connected to a home network, try restarting the router.

What is the make and model Wi-Fi repeater?

    a. Go to Device Manager.

    b. Right Click on the Wi-Fi device (wireless repeater) & Select Update the drivers.

    f. Check the issue.

Method 2: ****If you do not find the driver for Windows 8.1, you may download and install the wireless repeater driver in Windows 8 compatibility mode and check for the issue.

    a. Locate the executable file (.exe file) for the driver installation program.

    b. Right-click the file, and then click Properties.

    c. In the Package Name Properties dialog box, click the Compatibility tab.

    d. Click to select the Run this program in compatibility mode for check box, click Windows 8 with which it is compatible with in the Run this program in compatibility mode for list, and then click Ok.

    e. Double-click the executable file to start the installation program.

The make and model is : CM3 Wireless - N Wifi Repeater.

Tried method 1 - but there is no wireless options in the Device Manager??

And I don't even understand what you're saying in the second Method.
