    I resolved this problem.

In Windows' Device Manager (devmgmt.msc), the SXUPTP driver was showing as disabled. Windows gave a warning that the device was known to have stability issues. I found out that SXUPTP is a driver from a company called Silex. Silex makes network USB hubs, so I assume that the Belkin hub is a rebranded Silex hub.

In order to update the Silex driver follow these steps:

    1. Close the Belkin network hub's tray application.
    2. Download the latest version of SX Virtual Link (sx-virtual_link_win_3120.zip).
    3. Extract all of the files.
    4. In Windows Explorer, navigate to sx-virtual_link_win_3120\s-33a3120\Files\Bin\Sxcsapi\WinVistaX64 if you are running a 64 bit OS, or sx-virtual_link_win_3120\s-33a3120\Files\Bin\Sxcsapi\WinVista if you are running a 32 bit OS.
    5. Right-click on "Sxuptp.inf" and select "Install" from the menu.

The driver will be installed and the warning icon in the device manager should disappear. You may need to reboot for the changes to take effect.

    Hope this helps.

I found an easier way to resolve in Windows 8.1 64bit if you struggle with this version.

Shut down the Belkin program go to devmgmt.msc and open the Belkin driver, click delete driver and close device manager.

Go to http://silexamerica.com/campaign/sx-virtual-link-downloads/ and download the latest version driver SX Virtual Link for Windows version 3.13.0 save to downloads, extract to a new folder, open extracted folder and double click setup64.

When the install completes re-start computer, on restart Belkin hub opens and connected devices are visible.

All items connected to the hub by USB become available as though they are wireless ie normal external hard drives or  cd writers all show up in the hubs screen but when you attempt to access by clicking on the item no connection is made I did try compatibility mode but this does not work .Do I have to uninstall first

    Thanks  Geoffrey Battye

    Hi Geoffrey

What exactly happens when you try to connect the Belkin USB HUB F5L009?

    Any error message?

Since it worked with Windows 7, try installing it in the Windows 7 compatibility mode.
