Leadtek Winfast DTV-2000H Windows 8.1 pro 64bit

I have a LeadTek WinFast DTV2000H which had been working under windows 7 32 bit. I then installed Windows 8.1 pro 64bit. The system installed all drivers by default. However when I use PVR2 from Leadtek I can NOT get any channels. I thought it could be something to do with the aerial. I then used a set top box using the same cable and got all freeview channels. It appears the signal quality is 100% but I just can't get anything in windows.

Then I thought it could be because Windows 8.1 pro without WMC lacks some key components for media playback. So I purchased WMC. Windows Media Center can detect the TV card without any problems. But still after more than 15 minutes scanning, nothing is found.

I installed Linuxmint 16 64bit as dual boot and installed Me-TV. All TV channels are found. So I can only watch TV by booting into Linux.

Windows reports all drivers are up to date and working without any problems. Leadtek website doesn't say the card works under Windows 8/8.1. Microsoft compatibility page doesn't have any information on this card.

Does anyone have experience with the same set up? Please help.

Thanks a lot.

    Thanks Mahesh,

I've contacted LeadTek engineers. Here is their reply:

    Dear customer!

    Thanks for your contact.

Unfortunately, the chipset of it has already phased out.

So it can’t support to Windows 8.

    Sorry for your inconvenience.

So it's official that this card doesn't work in Windows 8/8.1

    Thanks for your help

    Regards

    Thanks Mahesh,

I tried downloading driver from Leadtek(again), ran the exe in compatibility mode(windows 7). Rebooted windows. WMC scanned nothing.

Uninstalled all WinFast DTV2000 H drivers

Tried running Leadtek driver exe in compatibility mode, both Windows 7 and Vista SP2. It said no supported device. Rebooted windows. All drivers came back. WMC scan showed no channels.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Do you get any error message/code related to the issue?

The TV Tuner Card is not compatible with Windows 8.1.

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/CompatCenter/ProductDetailsViewer?Name=Leadtek%20WinFast%20DTV2000H%20TV%20Tuner%20Card&vendor=Leadtek&Locale=1033%2C2057%2C3081%2C4105%2C16393&BreadCrumbPath=leadtek%20winfast%20dtv2000h%20tv%20tuner%20card&LastSearchTerm=leadtek%2Bwinfast%2Bdtv2000h%2Btv%2Btuner%2Bcard&Type=Hardware&tempOsid=Windows%208.1

I would ask you to install the drivers for the device in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

Refer to the link to find the drivers:

    http://www.leadtek.com/eng/support/download.aspx

Follow these steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode:

    a) Download the TV tuner card driver from the manufacturer’s website.

    b) Right-click on the driver and click on ‘properties’.

    c) Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 7 operating system from the drop down.

    d) Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.
