MS Wedge Keyboard will not Pair w/ Asus USB-BT21 on Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit

So I have a PC running Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit, an Asus USB-BT21 bluetooth adapter (mini USB dongle), and a MS Wedge Keyboard.

The dongle works fine with other BT devices, including a mouse and previously a Logitech BT keyboard.

The keyboard works fine with my BT enabled Nook HD+ Android tablet.

So I know all the parts are good and working. They are also all new.

So I cannot connect to the keyboard on the PC. When I try to add a device it detects the keyboard, and then when I try to pair it I get a spinning circle activity indicator for a long time ... and then it says it cannot connect, fails.  This happens again and again.

More specifically it says "Adding this device failed because of an authentication error"

Please advise.

TY!

hiya, it's been a while sorry.

So I have the most recent driver for my ASUS BT dongle and yet I still cannot connect. I keep getting the same error, again and again, stating that it cannot authenticate. There is never any display of a passcode and when I put the keyboard into Codeless pairing mode (Fn+connect keys), it still bizarrely says there is an authentication error.

Infuriating to say the least given this is a MS keyboard which presumably should play nice with Win 7 64bit.

Connects perfectly to my Nook HD and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.0...

    Anyone else have ideas?

    Hi Louis,

As the issue occurs only while connecting using ASUS Bluetooth Dongle, I would suggest you to download and install latest driver or software for the dongle.

Now again try to connect the keyboard and check if it works.
