Recently, donno since when, my files, docs, folder are locked when I email or send it to other ppl.

I have to manually unlock or share it before I send it to them.

When I right click the doc or file, and go to 'share with', it says 'with nobody'.

Can someone help me to unlock all of them, rather than Me having to unlock them one by one?

    Hi,

Is the issue specific to files for Microsoft Office tools like Word or Excel?

I would suggest you to run SFC scan and check if it scans and repairs corrupt system files.

Refer to the link to run SFC scan:

Follow the steps from section "Windows 7 and Windows Vista":

Please let us know about the status of this issue.

    Hi Cnwh,

Thank you so much for your reply with the relevant information regarding this issue.

It would be great if you can let us know the exact error message that the others are getting while trying to open these files from their computers.

From the error description that you have mentioned, it seems that this could be due to some virus infection on the computer which might be corrupting the file while you send it to the others. So, let’s make sure that the computer is clean from any virus or malicious software infections. For this, let’s boot the computer in Safe Mode with Networking and then perform a full system scan using Microsoft Safety Scanner and check the result.

Boot the computer in Safe Mode with Networking and perform a Security Scan

In Windows, we can start the computer in different advanced troubleshooting modes to find and fix problems on the PC. One of such troubleshooting mode is Safe Mode with Networking. Here we start Windows with a minimal set of drivers and services, including the network drivers. Please refer to the steps in this article to boot the computer in safe mode with networking:

***Advanced startup options (including safe mode)***

After booting the computer in Safe Mode with Networking, you may download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner from this link:

    ***Download Microsoft Safety Scanner***

Important: When running a scan using an anti-virus program, any data files that are infected may be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

Please get back to us with the results.

I did as the above but in safe mode problem still persist. did the scan, no files infected. What else can I do.

    Hi Cnwh,

It would be great if you can provide more information regarding this issue. Please answer these questions for a better understanding:

    1)       Are you using any File/Folder locker or encryption software on the computer?

    2)       What are the recent changes that you have made to the computer prior to this issue?

    3)       Are you able to open/access these files? Do you get an “Access Denied” or similar error while trying to access the files and folders on the computer?

    4)       Do you have any third party security program installed on the computer?

If you are getting an “Access Denied” or similar error message while trying to access the files and folders on the computer, then you may not have the ownership or proper permissions for these files and folders. I would suggest you to try refer to the article given below and try the troubleshooting steps given for Windows 8.

"Access Denied" or other errors when accessing or working with files and folders in Windows

If you are having issues while sharing the files, then you may refer to the article given below:

    Share files and folders

Hope this is helpful. Please get back to us with the updates and all the relevant information regarding this issue.

    1. Nope. Nothing.
    2. No changes. Except a Java update. Did a system restore. But problem still exist.
    3. No such 'Access Denied' I can open them as per normal. It's the files that I send to other ppl that gets error msg ie the file cannot be opened bcos of content corruption. (Not exactly sure about the error msg.)
    4. Trend micro antivirus. Had it for the 2nd yr now. Got it on my laptop also. No problems with it.

Could it be some virus or malware attack? Anyway to correct it?

    Btw the OS is win7
