I have a Hanns G HT231 Touch screen monitor on windows 8.1

When i boot the machine it does not detect the usb connection from monitor to pc in human device manager. If i unplug it and re insert it then it shows and touch works. If i rebbot it still shows and works. If i power off and on (shut down) then the problem returns.

Any ideas. PC drivers, bios, chipset upto date

    Hi Mrpap,

This issue seems to be due to the incompatible drivers installed on the computer. It would be great if you can provide more information regarding this issue.

    1)       While connecting the monitor for the first time, how did you install the drivers? Is it from the driver CD or from the Hanns G website?

    2)       Did you upgrade to Windows 8.1 or is it a brand-new computer that came with Windows 8.1 preinstalled?

    3)       If you have upgraded to Windows 8.1 then, which operating system did you use on the computer prior to this upgrade and also did you face this issue with the previous operating system?

I would suggest you to try uninstalling the touch screen drivers on the computer and then reinstall the latest Windows 8.1 compatible drivers from the Hanns G website. Please follow these steps:

Uninstall and Reinstall the Touch Screen Drivers

Step 1: Uninstall the Device Drivers

    a)       Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard.

    b)       Click on “Device Manager” from that list.

    c)       Search for the Touch Screen device from the device list, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” you may select that and then remove the corrupted drivers from the computer.

    d)       Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and the restart the computer if prompted.

After the restart, please open the Device Manager again and then click on the “Scan for hardware changes” button. Check if Windows 8.1 detects the Touch Screen device and installs an appropriate driver automatically. If the issue still persists, then try the next step.

Step 2: Contact the Hanns G Support and check if they have any Windows 8.1compatible drivers for your Touch Screen Device.

Go to the HANNS G website and search for the latest Windows 8.1 compatible drivers available for the touch screen device model and then install it by following the instructions given in the website. If you are unable to find any drivers, then you may contact the HANNS G technical support and check if you can get the drivers.

    Contact HannsG

Hope this is helpful. Please get back to us with the result.

    Hi Mrpap,

Let’s check if this is due to the incompatibility of the drivers which you have installed from the CD disc with Windows 8.1.

So, you may try installing it in the compatibility mode and check if that helps. To install any drivers/apps in the compatibility mode, you may refer to this article:

Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows

I have tried to uninstall but still have the issue. It is listed as a HID compliant touch screen and driver is shown as Microsoft 21/06/2006 6.3.9600.16384

I have the monitor disc but it still shows as this driver

    In reply

    1) CD

So boot PC from OFF no device shown in HID list in device manager.

Unplug usb cable it then shows and works.

Reboot PC it shows and works. Power down to OFF then start, missing from HID list and touch does not work.

Seems to work OK on another Windows 8.1 machine
