Is the plug loose in the power jack? If it wobbles around, most likely the internals of the jack are broken and it will need fixing by an authorized repairer.

Has it been forcibly pulled out recently? This is the most common reason for jack failure.

Does that laptop run ok with the battery removed?

If the jack is still a good fit and no looseness, how old is the laptop?  The battery may be beyond its best..

    You can ask Toshiba here..

The laptop has been about 3-4 years although it never had this problem also it happened very fast since i use the laptop to play games on i left it down to charge over the night and when i came back in the morning the indicator to show it is charging shows a orange colour and it didnt show it and when i turn't the laptop on and went to log in i saw that it was not charging i dont think it is the battery because this is first time i had it and it only happened very recently yet it has never happened in the past and the power jack is fitted in properly i think it might be because of the over heating that causes the laptop to turn off sometimes when i play games but then again it has just happened and my laptop sometimes turns off when i have played over games over the years

So the laptop is between 3 and 4 years old and  actually has three issues..

You also seem believe that it is the overheating problem which may be causing the battery issue and the shutdowns when playing games.

OK , so get the overheating problem sorted out and see what happens next.

You will need a can of compressed air and a small tool capable of removing the inspection plates on the base. Some models allow direct access to the fan, such that when air is blown through the side vent INTO the computer, you can fish the dust bunnies out with a wooden cocktail stick or similar. Toshiba doesn't allow for this, so do the best you can through the small grille directly over the fan..
