Good Day!

I'm having a problem with my 3 months old laptop right now. it started when I restart my laptop (Asus X452cp) it goes to Aptio setup utility, and i found a tab "Save & Exit" i chose that tab and my laptop restarts when it opens again it came back to Aptio setup utility, I did the same thing and it came back to it. I search in google to find some ways to exit and came to this website: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/86522-35-asus-x501a-bootable-drive

and followed this comment even though i dont know what it means i just want to use my laptop again so desperately :(

"Ok so I figured it out guys, it was kind of silly but here we go.

So this system is sort of a hybrid legacy and EUFI system, and there a few steps I needed to take to get it to recognize devices that aren't the original HDD

First I had to the Security Options of the BIOS and disable "Secure Boot"

After that go to the Boot section of the BIOS and

  • Disable Fastboot
  • Enabled CSM (Compatibility Support Module)
  • This will allow the BIOS to see other bootable drives (For some reason it keep on being disable when I would restart, so that's why I couldn't see my SSD)

Once those options were set and saved I was able to boot, validated that I was able to change the boot priority, saved again and used the Ubuntu LiveUSB and installed Ubuntu x64 bit

Made sure to reboot several times and the system has loaded successfully each time :)"

and my computer restarts and it says "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key" When I press any key it just repeats the message and Im stucked. hope you'll help me. sorry for the long message :)

    Hi Cedric,

Usually this error message occurs if in the BIOS(Basic Input Output System), booting is set as to start from CD Rom or floppy drive as first boot device. Where as you are trying to boot from the Hard disk.

Go into BIOS and change the Drive Boot Order so that the Hard Drive comes first as a boot priority. You should be able to boot into Windows normally after you save it to that configuration.

You need to contact your computer manufacturer in order to change the boot priority in BIOS( Basic Input Output System).

Warning: Be careful when changing BIOS settings. The BIOS interface is designed for advanced users, and it's possible to change a setting that could prevent your computer from starting correctly. Updating BIOS should only be done if necessary (to solve a compatibility problem, for example). It can be a complicated process, and if an error occurs, your computer could be rendered inoperable. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions exactly.

If you need any further assistance with Windows Operating System, please post your query on Microsoft Community Forums and we’ll be glad to assist you with it.
