I have a laptop Acer ASPIRE V3-571G-736b8G75BDCaii, its configuration 3630QM, 8 Gb RAM, chipset HM77, Windows 8.1 for a single language that was preinstalled. I have been installed optibay with HDD which came with laptop instead of Blu-Ray Drive. Operation system was moved to SSD Vertex 4 on SATA bus. So, the HDD in optibay is not working properly - he always falls asleep, just a couple of minutes after no one call to it. And trouble is not in optibay because another one behaves the same way. When the HDD connected via USB bridge the situation is similar, it falls asleep. But when it plugged in desktop computer it works perfectly via SATA, and through the USB adapter too. In power settings "Parameter of temporary supply USB" was set "Disabled" for all modes, but the situation has improved only partially. The HDD ceased to fall asleep only when connected via USB and the laptop is connected to AC power, but if it runs out of battery, then it go to sleep again after couple of minutes being inactive, it looks that it spit on the Windows settings Power USB. In optibay it falls asleep in any case and I see no any parametrs of DVD-bus or somthing like this bus. This begs the question - where in the system, this setting is hidden, which regulates power supply policy thinner? Incidentally, I tried to plug to all USB-ports on the laptop but nothing changes. So the problem here is clearly not with the USB-port. The operating system is automatically updated and I also updated the drivers.

I chose the values of both parameters "from battery" and "from AC" (I have a Russian version, so the names of parameters may be different) to "never" for active mode. But nothing changes...

Before changes these parameters were 10 and 15 minutes respectively. Although there is one solution - do not turn off the torrent client.

    Hi Konstantin,

This seems to be due to some power settings on the computer. I would like to know if you have set the hard drive to turn OFF automatically after a certain period of idle time in the Power Options.

If yes, then this issue could be due to this settings in the power options. You may follow these steps and check if the issue persists.

    a)        Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard and select “Power Options” from that list.

    b)       In the “Power Options” window, click on the link “Change plan settings” next to the power plan that you have selected for this computer.

    c)        From the next page, click on the link “Change advanced power settings”.

    d)       In the new box which appears, expand the option “Hard disk” and again expand “Turn off hard disk after” and set a higher value for it.

    e)       Click on “Apply” and then “Ok”.

Now, check if the issue still persists. Please get back to us with the results. If you are not comfortable with the English language and would like to have assistance in “Russian” language, then please post this query in the Russian forum from this link:
