I have a microsoft wireless notebook optical mouse 3000 that my office purchased some time ago. I cannot get it to work - how do I turn it on. I put a new AA battery in but the light does not come on so it does not work.

Hi bookervandal,
You need to install the IntelliPoint software for the mouse to be detected on your computer.
Here’s a link which will give you details of how to install the Microsoft IntelliPoint software.

After removing USB receiver from mouse, look for a small tab in groove that housed the USB receiver. It will be on left, midway. If stuck in mouse will not turn on. Tooth pick should help you pull it out.
That was it!!! The tab (which is spring loaded) is so small it's really easy to miss!
The battery in this mouse needs to be inserted "backward" from what one would normally expect. The positive end goes toward the back of the mouse against the spring. In most battery powered devices the negative end goes against the spring.
