Windows 7 driver for Visioneer 7600 USB scanner

The Windows 7 compatibility page shows that the Visioneer OneTouch 7600 USB Scanner is fully compatible with Windows 7.  Since Visioneer does not provide a driver for Win7, does this mean that there is a "built in" driver in Windows 7 for this scanner?

    Hi pm1315,

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers!

No Windows 7 does not have a built in driver for the scanner.

Visit the following link and download the drivers for the scanner which is compatible with the Windows Vista Operating system.

    http://support.visioneer.com/KnowledgeBase/Articles/VIS1382%20-%20ReInstalling%20Your%20Scanner%20Driver%20on%20Windows%20Vista.asp

You may now install the drivers in Windows 7 Operating system in compatibility mode for Windows Vista by following these steps:

    1. Locate the executable file for the driver installation program.
    2. Right-click the file, and then click Properties.
    3. In the PackageName Properties dialog box, click the Compatibility tab.
    4. Click to select the Run this program in compatibility mode for check box, click Windows Vista in the Run this program in compatibility mode for list, and then click OK.
    5. Double-click the executable file to start the installation program.

    Hi,

Since the manufacturer website says it is not supported for Widows 7, I would suggest you to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

    a. Place the driver installation file on the Desktop.

    b. Right Click the driver installation file and select Properties/Compatibility Tab. Select the appropriate options in from the list in the following image.

    c. Click Apply/OK.

    d. Right Click the file and select the Run As Administrator option to install.

I also recommend that you contact the maker of that hardware device and inquire about future driver support for Windows 7.

running the driver in compatibility mode works in Windows 8.1 as well.

however I did have some trouble running paperport that way.. The Win 8.1 SCAN app works with it fine though once you have the driver issue sorted. :)

I am glad i got my old scanner to work! Old huge breast of a thing but does the job brilliantly.

    Happy Scanning folks!

    Hi ron orillia,

Try uninstalling the software that you have installed and re-install it again and check if it helps.

Follow the steps given in the link to do the same:

I have the same issue with Visioneer One Touch USB 7600 in Windows 7. When I follow the above I find only Visioneer 7400 - not 7600

    Please clarify.  Thanks
