This device cannot start. (Code 10) Windows 7 64 bit JMicron PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

Apparently I keep getting this error at random times in the day.  My ethernet port just stops working and I tried disabling and reenabling it which used to (awhile ago) work.

Then recently as I was disabling and reenabling it, it gets stuck in "disabled" and this error message pops up when I open up "Properties".  I have tried reinstalling drivers for the device with the CD that my laptop came with but that didn't work so I looked on Jmicron's website and found a newer driver which after installing still did not work.  I have wireless still working but not having LAN is a pain in the butt.

Try updating the bios of the laptop and the chipset software provided by your laptop oem (dell, hp, whomever). Fixed an instance I had of error 10 with a device.

    Hi,

I just want to thank both alfarabi88 and Miroslav Maric. Did what they suggested (both of them), and fixed the LAN on an Asus k52je and saved us from replacing the LAN card.

Just a word of advice regarding the suggestion by alfarabi88: in case the address that you find from the Details tab has less digits then the default address in the Advanced tab, leave the leading zeros!

For example, if in Details it says 00000005, and the default in Advanced is 000000000000, then set it to 000000000005.

    Hope this helps.

I also get this problem too.

step 1 - go to Device Manager. Press Windows Key + R, type devmgmt.msc.

step 2 - go to JMICRON driver and go to properties

step 3 - click to Details button, you can see Property then find address

step 4 - after you get your address no, keep it and go to Advanced button

step 5 - find network address which is at value box. key in your address no there

step 6 - click OK and see what happen...

I have try this step and it works for me..

sorry for my poor English. I hope this will help you to solve your problem

Hello, I do not know whether you solved the problem in the 2 years time that passed, but I only today found the solution for it.

Apparently, the driver of the ethernet adapter has a bulit in specification that sets a certain option in the device properties to shut down the adapter and not wake it up again until you change this option.

To resolve this issue go to device manager (control panel -> device manager) find your jmicron under the network adapters and then do a right click and select properties. It will open a new screen with several tabs, choose Advanced. It will list on the left in a column a lot of properties and on the right their values. Scroll down to the very last property called Wakeup from Shutdown and single click on it. In the Value drop menu on the right it will show disable. Change it to enable and voila!!! The device manager will show that the JMicron ethernet adapter is waking up. God only knows which clever engineer came up with the idea to set this default value to disabled, but this will, I believe, solve your problem with the ethernet adapter.

    Cheers
