Invisible Mouse Cursor in Full Screen Games

Hello Windows community.

As the title states, my cursor is invisible (but still works) when I try to play games on full screen mode. I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro and my computer was completely fine about 2-3 weeks ago with a visible mouse cursor. I've called Microsoft support but got little to no help, Googled for solutions for 3 days now and it seems no one else has this issue. The mouse still works: I can point and click around and it's still responsive but I just can't see it. An example of games I play with the invisible cursor is Torchlight 2, League of Legends and Batman: Origins (etc...). I don't understand what the problem is and I can't find any solutions whatsoever. My drivers are up to date, I can't recover to a previous point because it gives me an error saying all my files are still the same, and restarting my computer with certain start-up programs turned off still doesn't fix the problem. Please help!

Thanks for reading.

    Hi Jonathan,

This issue might occur if the pointer trails for the cursor is enabled under Mouse pointer options.

Follow the methods listed below to troubleshoot the issue:

    Method 1:

I would suggest you to disable it and check for the results. Follow the steps to do so:

    • Press Windows and X keys together and select Control Panel.
    • Click on Mouse.
    • Navigate to pointer options tab.
    • Under Visibility, uncheck the box which says “display pointer trails”.
    • Click on OK to close the window.

Check if you find the same issue. If yes, move to the next method.

    Method 2:

Follow the steps below to change the display text size to 100 % and check if it resolves the issue:

    • Right Click on the desktop screen and select Personalize.
    • Click on Display.
    • Check the box that says “let me choose one scaling level for all my display”. Choose Smaller (100%)-default.
    • Click on Apply. Restart the game and check if the point becomes invisible again.

Please let us know the status of this issue.

Hello and thanks for the reply Pinaki.

It seems like the second method did work somehow. I had to relaunch my game(s) more than once in full screen mode and it seems to have worked. Thanks very much for the reply and for your help! I still don't understand why my cursor went invisible in the first place because it worked fine for about 3 months and then went invisible. Regardless, it seems my issue has been resolved. Thanks again!
