lock screen appears while watching netflix

Hello. I have a gateway laptop with Windows 8.1. While watching netflix, my computer lock screen appears. I have to log back in to get back to whatever it is I'm watching. It just started this, and I'm confused as to why. I have AVG antivirus. I have checked all the settings I know how to check. The power setting is never turn screen off if plugged in (which it is), and everything else I check tells me this should not be happening. How do I keep the screen on until I decide to turn it off? I have found the Lock Screen settings, and there isn't anything about turning it on or off that I could find. It's gets very annoying to plug in a hdmi cable to my computer, settle in to watch a movie or tv show, only to have to get back up, log back in, and then rewind the show to the point where my computer decided to lock itself up. Please help!

I fixed it. I noticed a lot of threads with people having the same trouble, so here's how I fixed it. Keep in mind, I'm using Windows 8.1. Your settings may be different.

From the desktop, right click anywhere on the screen. select Personalize

In the right lower corner of the window, select Screen Saver, regardless of what it says (mine said none).

The screen saver window should appear. In the drop down box, select (None) if it isn't already selected.

This is the important step: Uncheck the box that says " On resume, display logon screen"

    Click Apply.

    Click OK.

After changing these settings on my computer, I let it sit idle for an hour. The desktop remained the whole time. I then watched an hour long show on Netflix. The Lock Screen never appeared.

The down side of this is that you can't use a Screensaver. However, this is a Microsoft problem. The computer should be smart enough to know you're either watching a video or streaming media, and turning off the screen would be a bad thing. Perhaps Microsoft will fix this issue in an upcoming update (hint, hint).
