I bought this my Nokia Lumia 1020 with so much excitement, and it arrived on Saturday...got to it on Sunday night and dived in to the camera...amazing! I said... Just this evening wanted to take an interesting night composition, pressed the camera button...instead of it to come on, was greeted with a humming sound.... Of sort... The app wouldn't open, tot it was d app with the problem...den turned on my flashlight app, but also greeted the d strange sound...also the light won't come on... I am really disappointed and getting forstrated by Nokia...

purchased the phone in September and now the camera does not function at all. No camera app will open the camera, just force boots back to home screen. Doing a factory reset on this phone is a joke, just look at the google results on endless gear spinning. Never have I been so disappointed in a flagship device.
The first thing to try is a reset by holding the power button and volume down button together for approximately 12 seconds until the phone vibrates.
The phone will now automatically restart but will not remove any user data from the phone.
You will probably need to reset the date and time again though.
If that doesn't help then you may have a defective phone which you should then have it inspected by Nokia.
Although the Nokia Camera App works OK on my 1020, when I select Front Facing the app crashes taking me back to the start screen. I've rebooted the phone. I've removed/reinstalled the app. Still no joy.
It's been quite a while since I used the Front Facing camera so I have no idea how long this has been broken. How can I get this working again?

My camera died this evening. I was at a wedding and now I notice when I start anything which tries to open it, it goes back to home screen... and this is happening 2 weeks after I took it from second send to Nokia "care" center. This is disgusting. Never, never, never buy Nokia. They will refuse to change it, just bring it back and forth to stay for months for fix and then when u get it back... bring it again. The most disappointing thing is the support. Guys. U are just not there for us. Many more months will pass for me in looking for solution and I just hope the law will help me in the end.
