My Toshiba Satellite Pro Series S500-11C has been upgraded to Windows 8. Although the installation went without problems and Win 8 functions correctly it is without any DVD or Audio function.
Checking on the Toshiba website it appears there aren't any WIN 8 drivers available. Hence, no audio or use of the DVD drive!
Can any one suggest a way round this problem, please?
Many thanks.

Hi Phyllis,
Sorry for the pretty late reply.
Please try to install the DVD and audio drivers in compatibility mode for Windows 7 and check if that helps.
Download the Windows 7 drivers for the DVD and audio drivers.
a. Then, right-click on the download and choose Properties.
b. Click on Compatibility tab.
b. Place a check in the Run this program in compatibility mod e box.
c. Tap or click the drop down box and select a previous Operating System, then tap or click OK.
Let us know if it helps.
Thank you for your response.
The drive does not show up in Windows 8.
I tried both methods, to no avail.
I installed a new hard drive and reinstalled Windows 7 to factory standard settings, to check that the drive and audio were not faulty. There were no problems.
I then installed Windows 8 on the same drive. Everything appears to function correctly except for the audio output and the DVD unit.
Are there any further suggestions on tackling the problem, please?
