    Hi,

What is  the issue status? Is the issue resolved?

As of right now the issue remains unresolved

Simce the last suhgestion By a support engineer i have been in hospital following a major operation and have been unable to reach my PC, my recovery will not be happening at home and therefore I do not know how many weeks it will be before I will be home and once I return home I cannot guarantee that my priority will be to get my PC working

But as of the point I left it

Wake from hybrid sleep did not work

    Hibernation not work

And as far as my memory goes wake from s3 sleep did not work

We certainly want to get this taken care of,here are steps to configure Wake-on-LAN on Windows 8.1

    1. First, you must enable Wake-on-LAN feature in the BIOS if you have integrated Ethernet network adapter. For Asus mainboards, it is located at Advanced –> APM–> Power On By PCI-E/PCI. If you do not see this option in your BIOS, check motherboard vendor manual to see if it supports Wake-on-LAN feature.
    2. Login to your windows 10 or windows 8.1 computer and open Device Manager by pressing Win + X and click Device Manager.
    3. In Device Manager, expand Network Adapters  section and locate yor network adapter, right click it and choose properties. It will display the network adapter’s properties.

    1. In the Network Adapter’s properties, go to Advanced tab and locate the network adapter’s option called Wake on Magic Packet.
    2. Go to the Power Management tab, and check the settings, Allow this device to wake the computer and only allow a magic packet to wake the computer.

    Regards.

I came to this thread looking to do WoL through a USB wireless adapter.

Turns out, it will not work. Almost for all motherboards & all wifi USB adapters.

For WoL to successfully work, the network interface needs to be able to not just have trickle power in Sleep mode but also be able to process the Magic Packet once it's received over the air.

Lily has correctly suggests that by allowing the USBmouse & keyboard to wake up the computer will cause trickle power to be supplied to the USB ports

    1. That much trickle power may not be enough for the USB wifi adapter to cause a wake up.
    2. The USB bus solely relies on the computer's CPU to process data. Since the CPU is still sleeping when the magic packet arrives, the USB port will not be able to process it.

In theory, this lack of support on USB can be addressed by the motherboard manufacturer, but in reality no motherboards do that.

Hope is helps helps answer the question.

    Hi Lily,

Thank you for sharing the resolution with us which will help others facing the same problems to fix it.

Resolution? What resolution? I was clarifying my situation and I answered your first questoon , saying that the box to set my USB WiFi adapter to wake up the pc in power management WAS greyed out and COULdNOT be slected

    My problem remains unfixed,

It is still not possible to wake the console up over wireless lan.

That is the problem and it still exists

    Hi Lily,

Is the option greyed out for Allow this device to wake up the pc?

Adjust power management of mouse and keyboard by unchecking the “Allow this device to wake the computer”.

a: Press Windows + X and select Device Manager from the list

b: In Device Manager, look for Network Adapter, Mice and Keyboard (Select One by One not at a time).

c: Right click the Network Adapter and click Properties.

    d: Click Power management.

e: Uncheck the option: “Allow this device to wake the computer”.

    f: Click Apply and Ok.

To find out what event/device woke up your Windows from sleep, go to command prompt(type cmd on the Run/Search box and press ENTER), then type this:

    powercfg /lastwake

Note: Press Windows + X and then click Command prompt

In device manager under network adapters, the USB WiFi adapter, in properties, power management, the option to allow this device to wake up the computer is greyed out,

I WAS not sure if this was because their was a USB power saving option I needed to change, or does thiseam that wake on wireless lan is not possible with a usb wireless adapter, kor is it possible that the device does not support  wake on wireless lan, or could it be that I need a manufacturer driver and not a windows update driver,

It has the default windows driver installed for this device tight now (I plugged the device in and it started working, and I didn't need to install anything software or her "installing device" notification

Thank you for taking the time to respond

I should also point out, the only things attached to the PC are power cable, USB wireless adapter and a sound cable, so their is no way a mouse or keyboard could wake up the device as their are non attached,
