How to open .JS files in Windows 7

Dear Friends,

Please tell me STEP BY STEP how to open *.JS File extensions using ( 1 ) JAVA.COM ( 2 ) Microsoft FREE softwear etc.

    Hi MilindThosar,

    Try the steps mentioned below and check if it helps.

    1.    Open "My Computer" by double-clicking the link on your desktop.

    2.    Navigate to the directory that contains the JS file.

    3.    Right-click the file and select "Open With" and "Notepad." This will open Notepad with your JS file loaded. Since JS files are always written in plain text, Notepad is a suitable editor for the file. When you're finished editing, go to "File" and "Save" to save the file.

    Have tried the notepad and it was a bunch of rubbish.  This file is from the government, so go figure that it won't open.  I downloaded javascript and it still won't open. . . and yes

    I rebooted my computer.  Any more ideas?

    I have somehow changed my registry to tell my computer to open JS files with Command prompt, and the computer won't accept the command to change it back to Windows Script Host.
