Bluetooth Radio Disappeared from the Device Manager

Hi guys,

I use Win7 Ultimate and recently I got the problem that my internal Bluetooth radio stopped working and it completely disappeared from the Device Manager.

Windows does not detect its presence in the system and I cannot see any yellow exclamation mark indicating that there is some device not working properly or that a driver is not installed properly.

I have a hardware switch on my notebook that is used to turn BT and WiFi on and off. When I turn ON the switch, my Wi-Fi is working properly but no sign that BT radio is present. In my BIOS I could not find any setting that allows me to enable/disable internal BT radio.

Is there any registry setting that might be manipulated to enable/disable internal BT radio?

Does anyone have a suggestion how can I get my Bluetooth to work again?

Many thanks in advance.

    Hello,

I am having the same issue with my built in bluetooth device in my asm100 on Windows 10. I have tried every solution posted here with no luck, as well as many other solutions on the internet. After about 6 hours of trying I decided to buy a usb bluetooth wireless adapter.

It seems as though this is a very common issue with Windows 10, and that there is no known solution given by the oh so helpful Microsoft team. The only potential solution I have heard about involves booting up linux on usb and re-enabling the bluetooth device.

Thanks Microsoft; don't work too hard!

    Hi Rakatoa,

This issue might occur if the Bluetooth service has stopped running on the computer.

What is the Make and Model of the laptop?

First of all, I would suggest you to check if the Bluetooth Services are running in Automatic mode under the list of Windows services.

    Follow the methods:

    Method 1:

You can follow the steps to check and start the Bluetooth service again on the laptop:

    • Press Windows+R keys to open Run. Type “servces.msc” without quotes and hit Enter.
    • From the list of services, locate the Bluetooth Support Serviceand Bluetooth Service.
    • Right click on the Bluetooth Support Serviceand then click on P roperties.
    • Check if the service is running. If not, start the service and change the Startup type to Automatic.
    • Follow the same steps to start the Bluetooth serviceand change the startup type to Automatic.

Check if the issue is resolved. If not, proceed to method 2.

    Method 2:

I would suggest you to download and install the latest Bluetooth driver for Windows 7 by referring to the manufacturer’s website of the laptop.

For further reference, you can refer to these links:

Refer to the suggestion from AceMcGee posted on May 22, 2009:

    Hi Pinaki,

    Thanks for your reply.

    My notebook is Fujitsu S6410, Intel Core(TM)2 Duo CPU, T7500 @ 2.2GHz, 4GB RAM, running Win 7 32bit.

    Method 1:

After I run services.msc I could see only following two services  listed and with the Status and Startup Type as shown inside the brackets.

    • Bluetooth Support Service (Started, Automatic)
    • Bluetooth Feature Support (Started, Automatic)

There is NO service called Bluetooth Service listed. Where shall I find this service? How to start it?

    Method 2:

I have downloaded the driver from Fujitsu website. It is the same version as the one I have initially installed on my computer sometime ago. No further updates.  Anyways I have tried running it. Small window opens up for very brief moment and closes up so quickly that I couldn't see what was written. As I said initially there is not indication that the driver is missing or that some hardware is not working properly (no yellow exclamation mark in device manager). Simply the whole Bluetooth Radio is missing from the Device Manager.

I have also checked other suggestions from the post you referred to but they do not really apply to my case. My BT icon is not hidden. It is not to be found on the Task Bar, it is not under the hidden icons nor it can be found under "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Notification Area Icons".

Do you have any further suggestions?

    Thank you.

    Hi Ramesh,,

    Thanks for your comments.

Unfortunately those posts that you have suggested trying are dealing with the regular setup of the BT device. My BT radio disappeared from the Device Manager. I can not update drivers as it does not show that I have BT. I can not pair with other devices as there is no sign that I have BT on my computer.

My switch is turned on but it only activates WiFi. It used to activate both WiFi and BT.

    Any further suggestions?

    Kind regards,

    Hi Rakatoa,

    Thank you for an update.

As you have mentioned that this issue occured recently, I would suggest you to perform System Restore to restore the computer to a point prior to this issue. Refer to the link to run System Restore:
