Original Title: usb driver returned an invalid onfiguration description

I have a golf buddy that I would like to update. I am getting notification that my device is not recognized and the USB device returned an invalid configuration description. How do I fix that issue?

    Hi Jan Evans,

    You receive this error when the drivers for the USB device are not installed on your computer.

    Are other USB devices working fine on your computer?

    I would like to inform you that Golf Buddy GPS Rangefinder device doesn’t come with compatible windows 8 or Windows 8.1 drivers. I would suggest you to download the drivers for Windows 7 and try to install them in Windows 7 compatibility mode. Follow the steps.

    a. Downloadthe driver from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.

    b. Right clickon the setup file of the driver and select Properties.

    c. Select CompatibilityTab.

    d. Place a check marknext to Run this program in Compatibility mode and select Windows 7from the drop down list.

    e. Let the driver install and then check the functionality.

    I had the same problem with my VS4 and here is my solution.

    1. Connect the USB cable.
    2. Turn on the VS4 and wait till it boots completely.
    3. You will see an icon showing that the connection is made.
    4. Open the Golf Buddy G3 Manager.
    5. Insert your ID and passwords and follow the instructions.
