Errors after all the drivers were installed - How do I fix it?

My laptop Asus Zenbook UX32VD came with win7 installed on it. I recently installed win8.1 and after installig drivers from http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=UX32VD I still got some errors in the device manager.

I get a total of 9 errors under the headline O ther devices. I will now paste the info I get by right-clicking on it properties->details

  • Error 1: ACPI\INT3400\2&DABA3FF&1
  • Error 2: ACPI\INT3402\0
  • Error 3: ACPI\INT3403\0
  • Error 4: ACPI\INT3403\1
  • Error 5: ACPI\INT3403\2
  • Error 6: ACPI\INT3403\3
  • Error 7: ACPI\INT3404\0
  • Error 8: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0153&SUBSYS_15071043&REV_09\3&11583659&0&20
  • Error 9: USB\VID_0BDA&PID_0139\20100201396000000

Errors 1-7 are written as U nkown device.

Error 8 as PCI...

Error 9 as USB2.0-CRW

Under the headline General -> Device statusfor every error (1-9) it says something along the lines:

This device's driver is not installed. (Code 28). There are no drivers that are compatible with this unit. Click Update driver when you want to search after a driver for this device.

I have tried right clicking each error and Update driver but it couldn't find any drivers and Microsoft update didn't solve the problem. What have I missed and/or how can I fix this problem? Is it only a matter of BIOS-update?

By watching the details for the BIOS using the program CPU-Z I see:

Version: UX32VD.206

Date: 06/06/2012.

If it may be of any help, my FN+hotkey (i.e. adjusting the brightness of the screen or increasing and decreasing of volume by hitting FN-key + F1 (or F2, F3, F4...) is not functioning properly, (can be seen as never functioning).

Thank you for replying (I found the solution eventually, for other people facing the same problem, please start reading after the pictore posted below).

Yes, the pending Windows Updates were installed, and the "errors" were not shown as your typical error message with a red circle and a white cross in it. They were seen when I right-clicked e.g. Unknown deviceon the list below and then hit Properties -> Details, under the heading Value.

However, I solved the problem. For anyone else who faces the same problem as I did, I fixed it using additional drivers from the windows 8 version, which one can find at the computer-brands own website. The brand of my laptop is ASUS, so my drivers were found at their website

Driver 1: Install driver *Intel® Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Drive,*under the heading Others. This will solve the problem regarding PCI d**ata acquisition and signal processing controllerand the other Unknown devices.

Driver 2: Install driver *Realtek Multi-Card Reader Driver,*under the heading *Card Reader.*This will solve the USB2.0-CRW problem.

Driver 3: Install driver ATKACPI driver and hotkey-related utilities, under the heading *Utilities.*This will let you perform various actions such as adjusting the brightness level of your laptop screen or controlling the volume etc. by ONLY using the keyboard.

    Hi Nasir,

Please answer these questions to get more clarity on this issue:

    -          After upgrading to Windows 8.1, did you install all pending Windows Updates?

    -          When exactly do you get the errors in the Device Manager?

As you are getting this error message “There are no drivers that are compatible with this unit”, it seems that this error might be due to incompatible drivers or missing updates.

Once you install the display driver in Compatibility mode, you may try adjusting the screen brightness and check if this helps.

You may uninstall the existing driver from the Device Manager and install the drivers in compatibility mode and check the driver status. Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows.

Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-8/older-programs-compatible-version-windows

As of now we need not worry about updating the BIOS as we have other steps that can be tried.
